Sands Story of Africa
In Spring 2023 Lisa took her family to Southern Africa and had a life changing journey. Here’s her story.
Going to Africa on safari has always been on my travel bucket list and once I felt like my kids were at an ideal age (8 and 11), we decided it was time to go for it. Besides the basic idea of a safari in Africa, I had no clue how to proceed with planning a trip like this, so I decided to get in contact with Karen. We started with a telephone consultation where Karen asked questions about what we would like to see, travel dates, and budget. After that, she put together some sample itineraries. We chose our preferred itinerary, put down a deposit, and started the countdown to our dream vacation. The whole planning process was so easy, as Karen was able to customize our trip based on our family’s wants and needs.

The actual trip was nothing short of amazing. From the moment that we landed in Johannesburg until we returned to the airport in Cape Town two weeks later, we were under the care of amazing guides who looked after everything. We travelled from camp to camp through Zambia and Botswana on bush planes and went on daily game drives. We saw every animal on our list and had unforgettable experiences. The camps that Karen had chosen for us were incredible. Every last detail was impeccable, from the accommodations, the food, the guides, and even gifts for the kids. We spent the last four days in Cape Town at a beautiful resort where we explored the city with our private guide and relaxed in our private pool and hot tub.
This whole trip was definitely life-changing. Being in Africa brings a feeling of connection to the earth and to nature. I have tried to explain this feeling since being back, but it is one of those things that you need to experience to understand. Sharing this experience with my family brought us closer to each other and strengthened our family bond.
